GWANGJU: The South Korean baseball championship series faced an unexpected delay as the first two games were postponed due to unplayable field conditions and anticipated rain in Gwangju. Game 1 between the Kia Tigers and the Samsung Lions was suspended on Monday night with the Lions leading 1-0. This marked the first suspended game in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) history. According to Yonhap News Agency, the game was set to resume at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with Game 2 to follow. However, the KBO announced that field repairs would exceed three hours, making the scheduled start time unfeasible. With additional rain predicted by the Korea Meteorological Administration, the KBO deferred Game 2 to avoid further disruptions. The suspended game is now slated to resume at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Gwangju. If completed by 5:30 p.m., Game 2 will commence at 6:30 p.m. Otherwise, it will begin an hour after the first game's conclusion. The delay has also affected Games 3 and 4, originally planned for Daegu, which have been po stponed by a day to Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Lions secured their lead with a solo home run by Kim Hun-gon just before the suspension. The interruption in play came as Tigers starter James Naile was replaced after a walk, and reliever Jang Hyun-sik walked his first batter, falling behind in the count against Kim Young-woong when the game was halted.
