SEOUL – A series of videos promoting Korean tourism, featuring the popular K-pop girl group NewJeans, has reached 30 million views on YouTube in just 11 days since their release.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Created by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism along with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), the campaign includes two TV commercials and two 30-minute teaser videos. Released on July 11 on the KTO's YouTube channel "Imagine Your Korea," the commercials highlight less-known local tourist spots and Korean cuisine under the slogan "Koreans' Korea." Viewers can see NewJeans members exploring traditional markets, enjoying local dishes like gimbap dipped in tteokbokki broth, ramen after hiking, and chungmu gimbap by the beach. The videos also promote visiting rural towns, trendy cafes, and learning about traditional Korean mother-of-pearl craft. Additionally, these commercials are set to be displayed on major billboards in 14 cities worldwide, including New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangkok, Dubai, and Mexico City, through October.
