KORIBOR Rates Hold Steady Across Most Terms, Shows Minor Adjustments in Short-term Maturities

SEOUL: The latest figures for the Korea Interbank Offered Rates (KORIBOR) have shown minimal changes across various terms compared to the previous session, with most rates holding steady or experiencing slight declines. According to Yonhap News Agency, the KORIBOR rates, which are essential indicators of the interbank lending rates, were reported at 11:00 a.m. today. The data reveals that the one-week (1-W) and twelve-month (12-M) rates remained unchanged at 3.25% and 3.23% respectively, mirroring their previous session values. Conversely, the one-month (1-M), two-month (2-M), three-month (3-M), and six-month (6-M) rates each saw a slight decrease by 0.01%, moving to 3.34%, 3.38%, 3.43%, and 3.38% respectively. The stability in the longer-term rates, such as the 12-month KORIBOR, suggests a steady outlook on the longer-term borrowing costs. However, the minor adjustments in shorter-term rates might indicate slight shifts in market liquidity or short-term credit conditions. These rates are significant for f inancial markets and monetary policy as they influence various interest rates across the economy, including those on loans and mortgages. Tracking the changes in KORIBOR helps financial analysts and investors gauge the short-term interbank lending market conditions in Korea.
