Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index, a major stock market index consisting of 200 of the largest companies on the Korea Exchange, experienced a significant downturn in Wednesday's trading session. Several key stocks witnessed declines, contributing to an overall bearish movement in the market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, MiwonComcl closed at 128,400 KRW, down by 9,600 KRW, while SeAH Steel Holdings fell to 100,200 KRW, representing a decrease of 2,100 KRW. AMOREPACIFIC Holding saw a decline of 800 KRW, closing at 26,400 KRW. Hyundai Motor reported a sharp drop, with its stock price falling by 22,500 KRW to settle at 378,000 KRW. LG Energy Solution also faced a notable dip, closing at 347,500 KRW, down by 19,500 KRW.
Other significant declines included HYOSUNG HEAVY, which decreased by 151,000 KRW to reach 2,765,000 KRW, and Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., which fell 31,000 KRW to 538,000 KRW. POSCO Holdings and POSCO INTERNATIONAL also recorded declines of 11,000 KRW and 2,100 KRW, closing at 330,000 KRW and 53,200 KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, TaekwangInd's stock price decreased by 20,000 KRW, closing at 933,000 KRW.
Despite the overall downward trend, some stocks managed to see gains. Hanmi Science rose by 2,000 KRW to 47,800 KRW, while KAL increased by 150 KRW, closing at 28,900 KRW. HANJINKAL saw a rise of 9,300 KRW, ending at 139,100 KRW, and CHONGKUNDANG experienced a minor increase of 500 KRW to close at 69,300 KRW.
The fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 index reflect ongoing market volatility, driven by factors affecting both local and global economic conditions.
