Seoul: The Korea Exchange (KRX), South Korea's primary stock exchange operator, is set to establish agreements with European and American exchange operators to extend trading hours for local derivative products, as exchange officials revealed on Monday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the KRX intends to finalize agreements with Eurex and ICE Futures U.S. Inc. during an annual derivatives conference held in Boca Raton, Florida, this week. KRX Chairman Jeong Eun-bo is scheduled to attend the event.
Eurex operates as a key derivatives exchange in Germany, while ICE Futures U.S. is a futures and options exchange based in New York. The agreements are anticipated to enable international investors to engage in trading Korean derivative products continuously at exchanges located in Europe and the U.S., as stated by the KRX.
Additionally, Chairman Jeong plans to engage with senior executives from Morgan Stanley Capital International Inc. (MSCI) to garner support for South Korea's pursuit of attaining developed-market status on the MSCI index. Following this, he will travel to London to participate in a roadshow organized by the KRX to promote the South Korean stock market and present ongoing capital market reform initiatives.
