Seoul: The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron has lodged a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against actor Kim Soo-hyun, accusing him of violating the Child Welfare Act and making false accusations.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the family’s legal representative, Bu Ji-seok, addressed this recent legal action during a press conference in Seoul. He reiterated Kim Sae-ron’s previous claims of having been romantically involved with Kim Soo-hyun from her second year of middle school. To support these claims, a recording of a conversation between Kim Sae-ron and an acquaintance was presented, with the acquaintance’s voice revoiced to protect his privacy. The evidence suggested that the relationship lasted six years, ending when Kim Sae-ron entered university. Kim Soo-hyun has denied these allegations.
The family’s legal move follows Kim Soo-hyun’s own legal actions. Last month, the actor filed a second stalking lawsuit against Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Hoverlab, which initially brought up the underage dating allegations. This lawsuit was in addition to a prior one filed on April 2.
Kim Soo-hyun has also pursued legal complaints against the YouTuber and Kim Sae-ron’s family for allegedly releasing a compromising photo of him and making threats. The actor is seeking damages amounting to 12 billion won (US$8.14 million) in relation to these complaints.
