Lee Approves Appointment of New Supreme Court Justice

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Friday approved the appointment of Kim Sung-soo as a new Supreme Court justice, his office said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee's approval follows a decisive vote in the National Assembly, where a motion for Kim's confirmation was passed with a 227-28 majority after a confirmation hearing held earlier in the week.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae had recommended Kim to the president last month, proposing him as the successor to former Supreme Court Justice Lee Heung-ku. This appointment marks a significant milestone, as Kim will be the first Supreme Court justice to take office since the Lee administration commenced last year.
