Buenos aires: President Lee Jae Myung stated that South Korea and Argentina are set to usher in a new era of cooperation, emphasizing the strategic importance of closer bilateral collaboration.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee made these remarks during a meeting with members of the South Korean community in Argentina. This meeting marked the final stop on his three-nation South America tour, which is focused on strengthening cooperation in critical mineral supply chains and other areas.
"I am confident that a new era of cooperation between Argentina and South Korea will fully unfold," President Lee expressed, highlighting the potential for enhanced collaboration between the two nations.
He further elaborated on the significance of strategic bilateral cooperation amid the changing international landscape, characterized by the artificial intelligence revolution and shifts in global supply chains. Lee underscored the importance of this partnership now more than ever.
The President noted that the cooperation between South Korea and Argentina is advancing toward tangible outcomes, with a focus on expanding collaboration in critical minerals including lithium, as well as in energy and infrastructure sectors.
His remarks followed a summit with Argentine President Javier Milei earlier that day. During the summit, both leaders agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on critical minerals and South Korea's imports of Argentine crude oil, starting next year.
