Brussels: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in follow-up discussions regarding cooperation in the construction of U.S. military vessels during the ongoing NATO summit, as confirmed by Lee's presidential spokesperson.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussions took place during a dinner banquet hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This conversation was a continuation of an earlier request made by Trump for South Korea's assistance in building military vessels, initially raised during their meeting at the Group of Seven summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, last month.
President Lee had previously disclosed that President Trump inquired about South Korea's potential involvement in the construction of U.S. military vessels. The discussions at the NATO summit serve as a follow-up to explore this cooperation further.
