LG Display CEO Vows Growth Drive as Earnings Return to Profit in 2025

Paju: LG Display Co. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeong Chul-dong on Thursday vowed to step up cost-cutting efforts and secure competitive technologies to sustain growth, after the company returned to profit for the first time in four years in 2025.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jeong emphasized the company's commitment to expanding its business performance during his opening remarks at LG Display's shareholders meeting held in Paju, north of Seoul. He outlined plans for advancing the company's business structure to maximize performance, cut costs, and secure technologies that offer a competitive edge in preparing future growth engines.

In 2025, LG Display reported an operating profit of 517 billion won (US$344 million), marking its first profit since 2021 when it posted a profit of 2.3 trillion won. This turnaround was attributed to strong performance in the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) business, which accounted for 61 percent of the company's annual sales in 2025, a significant increase from 32 percent in 2020.

During the meeting, LG Display announced its intention to invest around 2 trillion won in facilities this year, ensuring that such investments remain within a range that does not compromise the company's financial health.
