Seoul: LG Electronics announced a substantial decrease in its third-quarter net income, which fell by 81.4 percent to 90.2 billion won (US$65.4 million) compared to the same period last year. Despite the decline in net income, the company experienced a 10.7 percent increase in sales, reaching 22.17 trillion won. According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Electronics disclosed in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the third quarter was 751.9 billion won, down from 950.1 billion won in the previous year. The reported operating profit was 22.4 percent lower than the average estimate gathered by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data arm of Yonhap News Agency. However, an estimate for the net profit was not available in the survey. The latest financial results underscore the mixed performance of LG Electronics, with a significant drop in net income despite robust sales growth. The figures suggest challenges in maintaining profitability, which may prompt the company to reassess its strategies moving forward.
