Gwangju:Daegu Samsung Lions starter Chris Paddack has expressed doubts about pitching on short rest during the ongoing Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) postseason series against the Kia Tigers. The series is currently tied at 1-1 following two games at Daegu Samsung Lions Park.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two teams will now continue their playoff battle at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, with Games 3 and 4 scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Paddack struggled in Game 1, allowing five runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings, as the Lions were defeated 5-1.
With the Lions facing a shortage of starting pitchers, Paddack might be considered for Game 4 on three days' rest. However, Paddack himself is uncertain about this possibility, citing the importance of Game 3 and the playoffs' unpredictability. Despite having thrown 94 pitches in Game 1 and his difficulties against the Tigers, Paddack remains focused on possible adjustments.
Paddack has a record of 0-3 against the Tigers, with a 6.48 ERA, and he takes this personally. He insists on making necessary adjustments and moving on from previous poor performances. Despite the challenges, Paddack appreciates the vibrant KBO atmosphere, especially the enthusiastic fan support, which he finds more engaging than his past experiences in Major League Baseball.
