LS Cable’s Unit Secures Power Cable Supply Deal in Philippines

Manila: LS Cable and System Ltd., South Korea's biggest cable company, announced that its unit has secured a power cable supply deal in the Philippines. LS Eco Energy will supply mid-voltage and high-voltage cables to an internet data center (IDC) situated in the STT Fairview Campus, a data center cluster of local companies in Manila, as stated in a company press release.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company has not disclosed further details, including the contractor's name and the value of the deal. The cables ordered will be manufactured at the company's Vietnamese facility, LS-VINA Cable.

The Southeast Asian IDC market is anticipated to expand at an annual average growth rate of 10 percent, reaching US$8.8 billion from 2023 to 2028. LS Eco Energy produces extra-high voltage cables at its Vietnam plant, contributing to 80 percent of the local cable market. The company exports these Vietnam-made cables to neighboring Asian countries, as well as Europe and North America.

LS Cable holds a 67 percent stake in LS Eco Energy.
