Siena:The National Human Rights Commission of Korea has decided to issue a public apology for its previous resolution that recommended guaranteeing former President Yoon Suk Yeol's right to defense during his impeachment trial at the Constitutional Court.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the commission revised and approved a motion calling for this public apology. The decision comes after the commission faced criticism in February 2025 for adopting the recommendation in response to demands from Yoon's supporters for a fair trial regarding his declaration of martial law on December 3, 2024.
Ahn Chang-ho, the chair of the commission who was appointed by Yoon, abstained from the vote on the motion.
