New Korean Political Party Implements Strict Ethics Rules for Members

Seoul – The Rebuilding Korea Party, under the leadership of former Justice Minister Cho Kuk, has introduced strict new conduct rules for its members, including bans on playing golf during parliamentary sessions, flying business class, and owning cryptocurrency. The announcement followed a resolution passed at a workshop for lawmakers-elect in Gimhae, marking a significant step for the third-largest party in the upcoming National Assembly.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the new rules aim to foster a more austere and ethically conscious image among its members. Besides the notable prohibitions, lawmakers of the Rebuilding Korea Party are also restricted from using VIP airport lounges, making new stock investments, and are required to seek prior approval before engaging in real estate transactions. These measures reflect the party's broader campaign ethos, which includes bringing an early end to the current Yoon administration. Cho Kuk, who had a tumultuous tenure in government, characterized by a brief stint as justice minister and an academic fraud scandal, aims to reestablish his political presence with these sweeping reforms.
