Tunis:Minister for Government Policy Coordination Lim Ki-keun stated that the Prosecution Service and the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, newly established after the abolition of the prosecution's investigative rights, are expected to operate smoothly by December.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two agencies were inaugurated on October 2 as part of President Lee Jae Myung's initiative to reform the prosecution, which has been criticized for the misuse of investigative power. However, they are currently facing operational difficulties due to issues such as understaffing and unclear roles.
Lim acknowledged these challenges during a parliamentary audit, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused. He assured that the issues would be resolved, and the agencies would function effectively by the end of the year.
