PYONGYANG — North Korea's state media has issued a call for unwavering loyalty to leader Kim Jong-un in preparation for the 30th anniversary of the death of the country’s founder, Kim Il-sung, set to be commemorated on Monday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the North's main newspaper, highlighted the importance of continuing the legacy and fulfilling the wishes of Kim Il-sung, who led North Korea from 1948 until his death in 1994. "The path of wholeheartedly following the will of (Kim Jong-un) is where lies the eternal life of the great leader, and the path to most perfectly and excellently realizing the great leader's lifelong wish," stated an article on the newspaper’s front page. The paper also discussed various projects initiated by Kim Jong-un, framing them as direct continuations of his grandfather's legacy. The official Korean Central News Agency reinforced this sentiment in an English-language dispatch, urging the population to remain faithful to Kim Jong-un's guidance to ensure the "immortality of the leader." North Korea traditionally marks significant anniversaries with large-scale events, and given the historical pattern, significant commemorations are anticipated.
