PYONGYANG — North Korea convened several key meetings involving Cabinet members and provincial committees this past weekend to evaluate policy outcomes for the first half of the year and set strategic directions for the remainder. These discussions are a direct continuation of the policies and objectives outlined during a significant Workers' Party of Korea plenary meeting last month.
According to Yonhap News Agency, these meetings were held across the country, including in Pyongyang, from Friday to Sunday. They focused on assessing the progress made in the first half of the year and planning for achieving the year's critical goals in the remaining months. The recent plenary meeting of the Party Committee of the Cabinet, attended by Premier Kim Tok-hun and Vice Premier Pak Jong-gun, underscored the importance of steadfast policy implementation and highlighted supplementary decisions aimed at reinforcing the national economic agenda.
This series of meetings comes as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un emphasizes the need for improvement in the work attitudes of party officials, a theme that resonated during his recent inspection of a significant development project in Samjiyon. During this visit, Kim criticized senior officials for their lack of responsibility, which he attributed to causing financial setbacks for the project.
