Seoul:The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has dismissed claims by the South Korean military that a North Korean mine was responsible for a recent explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which injured three South Korean soldiers.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Yo-jong issued a statement through the Korean Central News Agency, accusing South Korea of fabricating the incident's findings and using them as justification for political and military provocations against North Korea. She criticized the South Korean military for what she described as "groundless results" and warned of severe retaliation if South Korean forces fired at North Korean soldiers engaged in border activities.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), following a joint inspection with the United Nations Command, stated that it was "highly likely" North Korean land mines caused the September 21 explosion. The JCS has promised to take appropriate measures if the involvement of North Korean mines is confirmed.
