North Korea’s Kim Yo-jong Warns of Imminent Border Countermeasures

Seoul:Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, issued a warning on Thursday regarding "new counter means" along the inter-Korean border, announcing that propaganda loudspeaker broadcasts against South Korea will be operational within days.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim's warning followed her visit to strategic locations along the southern border, where she threatened military action in response to what North Korea perceives as provocations by South Korean troops against its border fortification activities.

Kim stated that these new countermeasures will be on alert along the entire southern border, with loudspeakers poised for operation shortly. She emphasized that North Korea's fortification efforts, which include laying land mines and erecting barriers, aim to reduce military conflict risks and resolve ongoing issues between the two Koreas.

The situation remains tense, with South Korea's military and the U.N. Command attributing a recent land mine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone, which injured three South Korean soldiers, to North Korean mines. Pyongyang has denied involvement in the incident.

In response to these developments, South Korea's defense ministry has committed to a firm response against further provocations, and military leadership has been instructed to maintain a strong stance in the DMZ. Kim Yo-jong also criticized Kim Byung-joo, a South Korean presidential adviser, for his comments on North Korea's threats, urging him to refrain from making further statements.
