Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to Visit South Korea for Strategic AI and Robotics Discussions

Seoul: Jensen Huang, CEO of U.S. chip giant Nvidia Corp., is set to arrive in South Korea for a four-day visit, potentially laying the groundwork for expanded cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Industry sources disclosed that Huang's visit, commencing with his arrival at Gimpo International Airport in western Seoul on Friday, follows his participation in the Computex trade show in Taipei.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Huang's itinerary includes meetings with prominent South Korean conglomerate leaders and executives from the gaming, AI, and robotics sectors. On Friday evening, a dinner is scheduled with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin in Seoul. Discussions are anticipated to cover potential collaborations between Nvidia and South Korean firms, specifically in fields such as high-bandwidth memory (HBM), AI data centers, autonomous driving, and physical AI.

During a previous visit to South Korea in October, which coincided with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Gyeongju, Huang made headlines by dining with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chung, indulging in Korea's popular "chimaek" meal. On this trip, Huang is scheduled to meet Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NC Corp., on Sunday, with discussions expected to revolve around gaming and AI collaboration.

Huang's agenda also includes a closed-door meeting on Monday with executives from local AI and robotics startups in Seoul, marking his first known engagement with robotics startup leaders in the country. Plans are underway for Huang to visit Seoul National University's renowned AI institute and robotics research center. Additionally, he has shown interest in engaging directly with university students.

In a separate engagement, Huang is expected to meet Krafton's Executive Director Chang Byung-gyu and other senior managers. Although specific dates are not confirmed, the discussions are likely to explore gaming partnerships involving Nvidia's RTX Spark semiconductor and physical AI. Notably, Krafton has established a robotics company, Ludo Robotics, earlier this year.
