Oceans Minister Discusses Restarting Sale Process for HMM Co.
Oceans Minister Kang Do-hyung revealed on Thursday ongoing discussions about the potential restart of the sale process for HMM Co., South Korea’s leading container shipper. This development marks a shift from previous statements indicating no immediate plans for the sale.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Negotiations with the Harim-JKL Partners consortium, the preferred bidder selected in late December, concluded without agreement in early February due to unresolved issues. The dialogue with relevant ministries focuses on the timing and methods of the sale, reflecting the government’s strategic considerations for the future of HMM Co. amidst the complexities of the global shipping industry.
