Seoul: A woman in her 60s has died following a knife attack at a restaurant in northern Seoul, police reported Monday. She and her husband were attacked by a customer wielding a knife at their establishment the previous day.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Seoul Gangbuk Police Station apprehended the suspect, a man also in his 60s, at the scene on Sunday. Authorities plan to request an arrest warrant for the suspect on murder charges. The woman’s husband, who also suffered injuries during the attack, underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.
The incident occurred at the couple’s restaurant in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk Ward, on Sunday afternoon. The suspect allegedly became upset after not receiving a lottery ticket as a promotional gift, which reportedly led to the violent outburst. Since its opening in July, the restaurant has been offering 1,000 won (approximately US$0.70) lottery tickets to customers who order drinks.
