Park Hye-jeong Secures Silver and Sets National Records in Women’s Weightlifting at Paris Olympics

SEOUL - In a strong finish for South Korea at the Paris Olympics, Park Hye-jeong won a silver medal in the women's +81kg weightlifting category, marking a significant achievement by setting new national records.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Park's performance at South Paris Arena 6 culminated in a total lift of 299 kilograms, distributed between 131kg in the snatch and 168kg in the clean and jerk. These figures surpass previous South Korean records, demonstrating her outstanding ability and strength in the sport's heaviest female category.

This silver medal is notably historic as Park, aged 21, becomes the first South Korean to ascend the podium in the women's super heavyweight division since Jang Mi-ran in 2012. Her achievement not only highlights her exceptional talent but also signifies a promising future for South Korea in international weightlifting competitions.
