Police Raid Home and Office of Korean Medical Association President-Elect

SEOUL—On Friday, police conducted a raid on the offices and residence of Lim Hyun-taek, the president-elect of the Korean Medical Association (KMA), who is under investigation for allegedly inciting collective resignations among junior doctors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this additional raid involved the seizure of Lim's mobile phone and searches at his office in western Seoul and his home in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.

The authorities had previously seized a phone during a raid in March, which was later verified to have been used by Lim. The current police investigation follows a complaint by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, which accuses Lim of violating medical laws by promoting collective action among trainee doctors. These actions were in response to government plans to significantly increase medical school admissions, a proposal that led over 90 percent of the country's 13,000 trainee doctors to strike in late February.
