Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung announced Thursday that there is a broad consensus on the necessity of raising property holding taxes, reiterating his commitment to address the challenges of the runaway real estate market. During a public discussion on real estate policy, Lee emphasized the importance of "normalizing" the market as the government prepares to revise real estate taxes to counteract soaring home prices.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussion was broadcasted live and featured approximately 140 participants. These included YouTubers, internet users, real estate agents, and representatives from various sectors such as finance, media, and academia. Prime Minister Han Seong-sook and other Cabinet members were also in attendance. President Lee highlighted the stabilization of the real estate market as a significant challenge facing South Korea.
