Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating has experienced a modest increase, reaching 39 percent after a period of decline, as indicated by a recent poll conducted by Gallup Korea.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the survey was conducted from Tuesday through Thursday, involving 1,003 participants aged 18 and older. It revealed a 2 percentage point rise in positive assessments of Lee's performance compared to the previous week. This marks a slight improvement from the record low of 37 percent registered in the two prior Gallup polls, following a downward trend that began in late August.
The percentage of respondents who disapproved of Lee's management of state affairs increased by 1 percentage point to 52 percent. Among those who viewed Lee's performance positively, 20 percent cited diplomacy as a key factor, while 11 percent referred to economic and livelihood issues.
In contrast, real estate policies, along with economic and livelihood concerns, were the primary reasons for disapproval among respondents. Support for the ruling Democratic Party has also risen by 1 percentage point to 36 percent, recovering from its lowest level since the start of Lee's administration last week. Similarly, support for the main opposition People Power Party climbed by 1 percentage point to 27 percent.
The survey reported a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
