SEOUL — In a diplomatic engagement on Wednesday, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol held a telephone conversation with Indonesia’s president-elect, Prabowo Subianto, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean leader congratulated Prabowo on his recent electoral victory in March and advocated for increased cooperation across multiple sectors including defense, electric vehicles, and infrastructure. Yoon emphasized the importance of Indonesia in South Korea's broader regional strategy, particularly through the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI), which aims to boost partnership and regional stability with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Both leaders discussed ambitions to advance common interests in freedom, peace, and prosperity, underscoring the strategic importance of their countries’ cooperation within the framework of the KASI, introduced by Yoon in 2022.
