SEOUL — President Yoon Suk Yeol reached out to main opposition leader Lee Jae-myung on Friday, proposing a meeting at the presidential office next week. This initiative marks an attempt to foster dialogue following the opposition's recent electoral success.
According to Yonhap News Agency, President Yoon extended the invitation after congratulating Lee and his Democratic Party on their parliamentary election victory last week. If it occurs, this meeting will be the inaugural direct dialogue between the president and the opposition leader since President Yoon's inauguration in May 2022.
