President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Approval Rating Rises for Second Week

SEOUL — President Yoon Suk Yeol's approval rating has increased for the second week in a row, reaching 36.8 percent, according to a new poll released on Monday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the assessment of Yoon’s presidential performance saw an uptick of 1.1 percentage points from the week prior. Concurrently, the percentage of respondents disapproving of his performance dropped to 60.2 percent, a decrease of 1.7 percentage points. This upswing follows after Yoon's approval rating improved to 35.7 percent last week, after a previous two-week decline. The recent poll did not specify the factors contributing to the rise, but noted issues such as Yoon's budget speech at the National Assembly, which focused on economic and domestic concerns.

The survey, involving 2,521 adults, was carried out from last Monday to Friday and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

In related findings, the ruling People Power Party saw its approval rating ascend by 1.9 percentage points to 37.7 percent. On the other hand, the main opposition Democratic Party experienced a decline in their approval rating by 3.2 percentage points, falling to 44.8 percent. The poll evaluating the political parties’ ratings involved 1,002 adults and was conducted on Thursday and Friday, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
