President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Approval Rating Rises to 35.7 Percent After Two-Nation State Visit

SEOUL — President Yoon Suk Yeol's approval rating has seen a rebound, increasing to 35.7 percent, according to a poll released on Monday. This is the first time in three weeks that the President's approval ratings have increased.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the positive assessment of President Yoon's performance rose by 3.2 percentage points from the previous week. On the other hand, 61.9 percent of respondents disapproved of his performance, a drop of 2.2 percentage points. The President's approval ratings had been in a two-week decline, falling from 37.7 percent to 34 percent and eventually to 32.5 percent. Although the pollster did not specify a reason for the rebound, it is worth noting that the survey period coincided with Yoon's state visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, during which his approval ratings have historically tended to improve.

The poll was conducted among 2,506 adults from last Monday to Friday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points. A separate survey showed that the approval rating of the ruling People Power Party increased by 0.6 percentage points from the previous week to 35.8 percent, while the approval rating for the main opposition Democratic Party also increased by 1.9 percentage points, reaching 48 percent.
