Seoul: The presidential office expressed hope Sunday that the United States and Iran will reach a ceasefire agreement to restore peace in the Middle East and reopen the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Cheong Wa Dae voiced the hope following a recent Truth Social post by U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated, "The deal is scheduled to get signed" soon and that "immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all."
The office noted, "(We) hope that an agreement is reached between the two sides so that peace and stability will be restored in the Middle East while serving as an opportunity to quickly open the Strait of Hormuz."
Additionally, the office stated that the government "supports Trump's relevant efforts and will continue to join efforts by the international community, including the U.S., to secure free and secure navigation."
