Seoul: Britain's Princess Anne, accompanied by her husband Vice Adm. Sir Tim Laurence, is set to embark on a three-day visit to South Korea this week. The visit is aimed at commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battles of Imjin River and Gapyeong, significant engagements during the 1950-53 Korean War involving British forces.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Princess Anne's itinerary includes attending a commemorative ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan. The ceremony will honor the British and Commonwealth service members who fought in the Korean War. Additionally, she will have the opportunity to meet with veterans who participated in the conflict.
In addition to the commemorative events, Princess Anne is expected to visit Ulsan, a southeastern port city. The visit will focus on observing areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the maritime, shipbuilding, and defense industries.
The Princess Royal's schedule also includes a courtesy call on President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday, where discussions on enhancing relations between the United Kingdom and South Korea are anticipated. This visit follows her previous trip to South Korea during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
