SUWON — Former leader of the Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, and his wife have been summoned by prosecutors for questioning related to allegations of misuse of a corporate credit card during his tenure as governor of Gyeonggi Province.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee was notified last Thursday about the upcoming questioning session, which pertains to charges of breach of duty. Lee and his wife are accused of using a corporate credit card for personal purchases between 2018 and 2019, by allegedly directing a former Gyeonggi Province official, surnamed Bae, to make purchases of food items with the card. This summoning follows an indictment last month where Lee was charged with involvement in an unauthorized $8 million transfer to North Korea. Lee has publicly denounced these allegations as defying common sense.
