Tokyo:Kim Su-ji and Kim Na-hyun claimed silver in the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard diving event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, marking South Korea's best performance in this category since 2002.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the pair scored 254.70 points at Tokyo Aquatics Centre, trailing behind China's Chen Yiwen and Chen Jia, who secured gold with 328.56 points. Malaysia's Ker Ying Ong and Yiat Qing Lee took bronze with 243.72 points.
The women's synchronized 3m event was introduced to the Asian Games in 2002 in Busan, where South Korea initially won silver. Since then, China has dominated, winning every gold medal. Kim Na-hyun has now earned two medals at her debut Asian Games, having previously won bronze in the women's synchronized 10m platform event with Moon Na-hyun.
In the men's synchronized 10m platform event, Shin Jung-whi and Kim Yeong-taek earned a bronze medal for South Korea, with a score of 375.90 points. Chinas Yang Hao and Lian Junjie topped the podium with 465.54 points, while Malaysias Enrique Harold and Elvis Priestly Clement claimed silver with 377.52 points. Kim's older brother, Yeong-nam, previously won three consecutive silver medals in this event from 2014 to 2023.
