Seoul: Senior diplomats from South Korea and Italy have reached an agreement to promote bilateral cultural exchange during high-level discussions held in Seoul, as reported by the foreign ministry.
According to Yonhap News Agency, First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo engaged in talks with his Italian counterpart, Maria Tripodi, marking the second strategic dialogue between the two nations. This meeting follows the recent visit of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Seoul for summit discussions with President Lee Jae Myung.
During the dialogue, both officials acknowledged the importance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges as fundamental elements for building future-oriented relations. They agreed to foster exchanges in several sectors, including tourism, cultural heritage, and popular culture, to strengthen friendly ties.
In addition to cultural exchanges, an agreement was reached to enhance cooperation in advanced industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, space, and defense. The discussions also included exploring cooperative measures to address the diversification of critical mineral supply chains.
The strategic partnership between South Korea and Italy was established in 2018, with the inaugural session of the strategic dialogue occurring in 2020.
