Paris: The finance ministry announced that it hosted a seminar in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), focusing on the governance of state-run enterprises in the context of artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korea-OECD Seminar on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises was conducted in Paris, engaging policy officials from 28 countries and organizations. The seminar aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and insights on effectively managing state-run enterprises.
The discussions highlighted the importance of international cooperation in enabling state-run enterprises to offer reliable public services and achieve sustainable outcomes amidst challenges such as climate change and digital transformation. The seminar addressed the opportunities and risks associated with AI technologies, including issues related to cybersecurity and responsible AI usage.
Participants exchanged experiences on maintaining a balance between commercial and noncommercial objectives of such enterprises. South Korea presented its strategies for assessing these enterprises and the incentives provided to them. The finance ministry emphasized its intent to leverage the discussions and insights from the seminar to develop policies for state-run enterprises and continue its collaboration with OECD members.
