Seoul: The foreign ministry of South Korea announced on Thursday that it convened a cyber deterrence meeting with partner nations to explore strategies to bolster international cooperation against mounting cyberthreats fueled by emerging technologies.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the annual Like-minded Cyber Deterrence Group meeting was held in Seoul earlier in the day. The event gathered approximately 70 officials and experts from over 30 countries, including the United States, Britain, Japan, Canada, Australia, the European Union, and Singapore.
Participants in the meeting shared insights and perspectives on cyberthreat trends and the influence of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Discussions centered around enhancing joint responses to cyberthreats.
The attendees also exchanged views on improving resilience and cooperation within the broader cyber ecosystem. There was a strong emphasis on the necessity for intergovernmental collaboration through U.N.-led global mechanisms to establish norms in cyberspace.
