S. Korea Pledges US$500,000 Humanitarian Aid to Iran

Seoul: South Korea has announced its decision to provide US$500,000 worth of humanitarian assistance to Iran, as revealed by the foreign ministry. This support comes in response to requests from international organizations, including the United Nations, aimed at aiding the war-affected region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the assistance will be channeled through the International Committee of the Red Cross. The foreign ministry expressed hope that this contribution would help mitigate the humanitarian challenges facing Iran. This initiative follows South Korea's recent diplomatic engagement, with a special envoy dispatched to Tehran over the weekend. The visit was part of efforts to secure the safety of South Korean-linked vessels and crew members stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.

Last month, South Korea demonstrated its commitment to international humanitarian efforts by providing $2 million in aid to Lebanon.
