Nagoya: South Korea defeated Qatar 4-1 to begin their men's football tournament of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in central Japan, a victorious start to their quest for a fourth consecutive gold medal.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Swansea City midfielder Eom Ji-sung scored a natural hat trick in the first half of the teams' first Group D match at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Rugby Field in Nagoya amid heavy downpours. KRC Genk forward Kim Myeong-jun added South Korea's fourth goal in the 66th minute, while Marwan Sherif netted the lone goal for Qatar in the 85th minute.
Coached by Lee Min-sung, South Korea is set to face Saudi Arabia for their second match at 7 p.m. next Tuesday at the same Nagoya venue.
