Samsung and SK hynix Lead Global NAND Market in Q2

Seoul: South Korean chipmakers Samsung Electronics Co. and SK hynix Inc. maintained their positions as the top two players in the global NAND flash memory market in the second quarter, as the market continued to expand, industry data showed Friday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the NAND market saw a 70 percent expansion in the April-June period compared with three months earlier, driven by rising prices. This growth came after a significant 90 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in the first quarter.

Samsung Electronics retained its No. 1 position with a 28 percent market share in the second quarter. SK hynix followed closely, ranking second with a 19 percent share. Meanwhile, Micron Technology Inc. secured the third position, benefiting from higher selling prices.

China's YMTC also experienced notable success, posting higher-than-expected revenue with its market share reaching 14 percent during the cited period.
