Milan: Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Thursday that it has equipped the short track speed skating venue at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics with state-of-the-art monitors to enhance visual accuracy for competition judges.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung, the prominent South Korean tech company, has provided its 37-inch ViewFinity S8 monitors at the officiating areas of the venue. These monitors are intended to assist officials in "clearly assessing critical moments and confidently making rulings" during the high-speed events.
Samsung emphasized the technical demands of short track speed skating, stating, "Short track speed skating is one of the fastest and most technically demanding sports in the Olympic Winter Games. Races are often decided by razor-thin margins, sometimes as little as 0.001 second."
To ensure precision in judgments, Samsung's professional monitors are employed for real-time video review and competition monitoring. Additionally, Samsung Electronics has supplied 55-inch Odyssey Ark monitors to the video rooms managed by Olympic Broadcasting Services, the official broadcaster for the International Olympic Committee.
