Seoul:Samsung Electronics Co. announced that it will introduce its first open-ear earbuds, named Galaxy Buds On, in South Korea next week. The earbuds will be available for purchase on October 27, exclusively in black, at a price of 299,000 won (approximately US$225).
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Galaxy Buds On are designed to rest lightly on the ears, enabling users to enjoy music and videos while staying aware of their surroundings. This design is particularly aimed at runners and those who wish to hear ambient sounds during daily activities.
The earbuds incorporate AI-based optimization technology powered by four-dimensional (4D) computing and ergonomic design principles. Samsung official Nam Hyun-jeon highlighted the practical features such as Gemini Live for conversational idea development and Quick Voice Memo for recording thoughts and to-do lists.
Additionally, the Galaxy Buds On support hands-free AI voice commands when connected to a smartphone or tablet. They also include capabilities for recognizing head gestures and touch controls on the earbuds themselves. While the release date for other markets remains undecided, the South Korean launch marks a significant step in Samsung's wearable product offerings.
