Samyang Foods’ Sales Surpass 2 Trillion Won in 2025 Due to Buldak Spicy Ramyeon Demand

Seoul: Samyang Foods Inc., renowned for its Buldak spicy ramyeon, announced Thursday that its annual sales have surpassed 2 trillion won (US$1.4 billion) for the first time since its inception in 2025, fueled by the strong demand for its Buldak series.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Samyang Foods' sales soared 36 percent to 2.35 trillion won last year, up from 1.72 trillion won the previous year, as stated in a press release by the company. Since its introduction in 2012, Buldak ramyeon has achieved cumulative sales of over 9 billion units, generating more than 5 trillion won in revenue. The product gained international fame following a viral food-eating challenge in 2014 due to its extreme spiciness.

To accommodate the rising demand for Buldak products, Samyang has diversified its export markets and expanded its distribution channels in Europe and the United States. The company has also increased its domestic production capacity, contributing to its strong earnings performance, as mentioned in the release. In July, Samyang commenced construction of its first overseas production facility in China.

The company's net profit rose 43 percent to 387.56 billion won from 271.25 billion won, while operating profit increased by 52 percent to 523.94 billion won from 344.56 billion won. "This year, we will continue the growth trend by strengthening our production and distribution channels," the company stated.
