Seoul Baseball Players Investigated in Drug Case
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Thirteen current and former professional baseball players are under investigation for their connection to drug charges involving ex-baseball player Oh Jae-won.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a statement by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on Tuesday. Oh, previously with the Doosan Bears, was indicted on charges related to habitual use of methamphetamine and psychotropic medications since 2022 and for threatening someone who tried to report him.
The Doosan Bears conducted an internal inquiry, which revealed that eight players had supplied Oh with their prescribed sleeping pills, subsequently reporting this to the Korea Baseball Organization. The police, led by Commissioner Cho Ji-ho, have identified five additional players potentially involved, bringing the total under investigation to thirteen. The police are considering the possibility that some players were coerced into providing Oh with drugs before deciding on further legal action.
