Seoul:A court in Seoul has issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of murdering his mother-in-law and kidnapping his wife, who was seeking to annul their marriage. The warrant was issued by the Seoul Eastern District Court after the man, in his 20s, was placed under emergency arrest by police on Sunday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the suspect allegedly stabbed his mother-in-law to death at her home in eastern Seoul and then kidnapped his wife. He was apprehended in Yangyang County, approximately 150 kilometers east of Seoul, about seven hours after the incident.
The man has reportedly admitted to most of the charges but contends that the murder was not premeditated and that he did not intend to harm his mother-in-law. Investigations reveal that his wife had been preparing for an annulment of their marriage, having previously filed for divorce.
Police believe the crime may have been premeditated, citing evidence that the man had waited near his wife's home for over four hours prior to the attack.
