Seoul Discusses Enhanced Energy and G7 Cooperation with Canada

SEOUL - The vice foreign ministers of South Korea and Canada convened on Wednesday in Seoul to deliberate on augmenting bilateral cooperation in energy and key minerals. The discussions also covered enhancing ties in preparation for their respective leadership roles at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and Group of Seven (G7) Summit.

According to Yonhap News Agency, both nations emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with G7 countries. The G7 includes the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Despite South Korea's recent exclusion from an invitee list for the G7 summit in Italy, efforts are being intensified to promote its "G7 Plus" initiative aimed at expanding its global influence. The dialogue highlighted significant potential for collaboration between South Korea and Canada in sectors such as key minerals and high-tech industries, including electric vehicles and batteries.
