Seoul Police Investigate Bomb Threat at MLB Season Opener

SEOUL, South Korea – Authorities are investigating a bomb threat made via email targeting the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, where the opening game of the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) season between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the threatening message mentioned a plan to detonate a bomb during the game, specifically targeting MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani and others. In response, law enforcement is actively tracking the source of the email while planning to deploy a significant security detail, including 30 commandos and 120 personnel, to thoroughly search the stadium for any potential threats. As of now, no dangerous materials or suspicious situations have been detected.

This incident comes as the city hosts its very first MLB game, marking a notable event in South Korea's sports calendar.
