Seoul Police Investigate Hundreds for Election Law Violations

SEOUL - The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has initiated investigations into 372 individuals for suspected violations of election laws, with 17 already referred to the prosecution for potential charges.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Police Commissioner Cho Ji-ho disclosed that of those investigated, 140 were implicated in disseminating false propaganda, 36 were involved in bribery, and 31 have been acquitted. The police are committed to concluding these investigations within the next three months. Additionally, 10 individuals have been booked for creating and distributing a fraudulent video that depicted President Yoon Suk Yeol apologizing for alleged corruption and incompetence ahead of the general elections. Six of these suspects have been questioned, with further interrogations planned to ascertain their motives and the methods used in the distribution of the video.
