Seoul: Seoul shares opened higher Monday, tracking record gains on Wall Street. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) opened 47.56 points, or 0.76 percent, higher at 6,306.33.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the KOSPI had ended lower for a second straight session on Friday, impacted by foreign selling. However, positive developments in U.S. markets have influenced a rebound. On Friday, Wall Street advanced following U.S. job reports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28 percent, while the S and P 500 added 0.62 percent to a fresh record. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index increased 1.3 percent, contributing to the positive sentiment in Seoul's stock market.
